AMU Chancellor to provide 1000 computers for AMU schools

Aligarh:The Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah today announced that the Chancellor, His Holiness Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin has assured to provide 1000 computer units for AMU maintained schools to promote computer literacy.

Aligarh:Professor Badar Alam Iqbal, Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim Universityhas been invited to attend a seminar and give a presentation on ‘Transformation of Indian Economy’ scheduled to take place from March 25 to 27, 2016 at the Institute of Advanced International Studies at Guangzhou, China.

AMU Chancellor initiates STS School Restoration Work

AMU University Eco Club organizes ‘Eco Summit 2016’

Aligarh:To sensitize people on ecological sustainability and creating a better understanding for a holistic use of ecology, the University Eco Club, AMU in association with ‘Engineering and Environmental Solutions’ and MEDICS today organized the ‘Eco Summit 2016’ at the University Polytechnic (Boys) Auditorium.
Delivering his address in the inaugural function of the summit, the water-man of India, Mr Rajendra Singh, who is a Stockholm Water Prize (also known as the Nobel Prize for water) winner in 2015, said that the 21st century has new challenges.

Dr Salati attends Summit on Cancer Therapy as invited speaker

AMU Vice Chancellor feels concerned on Beef issue

ALIGARH:The Vice Chancellor of the Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has taken a serious note of the vicious allegations leveled by Mrs. Shakuntala Bharti, BJP Mayor of the City regarding serving of Beef at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College canteen. He said this is an attempt to whip up communal tension.It is clarified that only buffalo meat is served in AMU and it would never violate national sentiments in this regard.The Vice Chancellor has also spoken to Mr. Satish Gautam, Member of Parliament from Aligarh, who too accepted the AMU Vice Chancellor’s stand.

AMU teachers present paper at Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur

Aligarh: Professor Samina Khan and Dr Rashmi Attri, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University recently presented their papers in a National Seminar on various areas of ‘Empowering Women through Prism of Social Justice’ held at the Centre for Women Studies, Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur.
In her paper, titled, ‘Voicing the Dehumanized: A Study of Rape Victims’, Prof Samina Khan presented narratives with a special focus on victims from Gujarat, Muzaffar Nagar, Kashmir and other areas affected by communal violence.

Sir Ross Masood Hall organizes festival to sensitize students about environment

Aligarh:Aligarh Muslim University’s Sir Ross Masood Hall recently organized ‘Zenith’, a literary festival to sensitize students about environment and clean ambience. Inter-School and Inter-Hostel quiz, essay writing and painting competitions held during the event saw participation of more than 100 students from AMU and various Aligarh based schools. Welcoming the participants, Dr Shamshad Husain, Provost, Sir Ross Masood Hall urged the participating students and their parents to keep the environment clean.

अलीगढ़:अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय फिजिक्स विभाग द्वारा रीसेंट ट्रेंड्स इन न्यूक्लियर फिजिक्स पर आयोजित दो दिवसीय राष्ट्रीय कांफ्रेंस के उद्घाटन समारोह को सम्बोधित करते हुए सहकुलपति ब्रिगेडियर एस अहमद अली ने कहा कि न्यूक्लियर फिजिक्स को अक्सर परमाणु बम या तबाही से जोड़कर देखा जाता है जबकि वास्तविकता यह है न्यूक्लियर फिजिकस का इस्तेमाल वर्तमान समय में चिकित्सा क्षेत्र, ऊर्जा, उत्पादन तथा उत्सर्जन को कम करने के लिए हो रहा है।

Dept of Law with NCW organize awareness programme on ‘Rights of women’

Aligarh:The Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW) today started a two-day legal awareness programme on ‘Rights of women’ in which workshops in Aligarh and some rural areas will take place.

Online class introduced at RCA

Aligarh:Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) recently inaugurated an online class for the benefit of engineering students at the University’s Residential Coaching Academy (RCA).While delivering the presidential remarks after clicking the satellite classes through VSAT, the Pro Vice chancellor emphasized on the importance of competitive examinations like GATE, IES and Civil Services.

Lecture on opportunities for higher education in US Universities at AMU

Aligarh:The Training and Placement Officer (General), Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a lecture on “Opportunities for Higher Education in US Universities” on 13th February.Mr Saad Hameed, Training and Placement Officer (General), AMU informed that Dr Syed Masarrat Ali, chair of SSESA, Boston, USA and an alumnus of AMU will deliver the lecture at the Training & Placement Office (General), University Convention Centre at 2 pm.

Prof Asif conferred FICP fellowship

Aligarh: Prof Asif Hasan, Centre of Cardiology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been conferred fellowship FICP of the Indian College of Physicians at APICON, Hyderabad.The fellowship is awarded to Professor Hasan in recognition of his academic work in the field of Medicine, including publications in prestigious journals.

AMU officer elected as AIFUOA VP

Aligarh:Aligarh Muslim University Deputy Registrar, Mr Suroor Athar was recently elected as one of the Vice Presidents of the All India Federation of University Officers Association (AIFUOA) for a two-years term during a General Body Meeting held at the Conference Room of the School of Social Sciences, Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU). He has been the General Secretary of AMU Officers Association for two consecutive terms.

“Walk of Hope” welcomed at AMU

Hobbies Workshop, AMU organizes modeling competition and Science Exhibition

Aligarh:The Hobbies Workshop, Cultural Education Centre, Aligarh Muslim University recently organized a modeling competition and Science Exhibition in which over 500 students from various Aligarh based schools participated.One of the highlights of the event was ‘Code Hunt’, a programming competition to sensitize children to the growing importance of technology.

ALIGARH:The International Seminar on “Dimensions of Persian Language and Literature available during Akbar’s Reign and the Safavi Period” concluded here yesterday evening. Prof. Ahmad Raza Khizri, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Tehran University, Iran delivered the valedictory address. Prof. Iqtidar Hussain Siddiqi was the chief guest while Prof. Tahir Ali, Viswa Bharti, Santiniketan presided over the function.

Aligarh:Mr Himanshu Dhyani, research scholar at the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University has been picked up by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) for the post of JTA (Geology) (A-1 level).

Petition against AMU Malappuram Centre director dismissed

ALIGARH:The Kerala High Court has dismissed the Writ Petition raising objection on the appointment of Dr. H. Abdul Azeez as the Director, Malappuram Centre of the Aligarh Muslim University.
The petition, filed by Dr. Alassan Kutty, Associate Professor and Head, Department of History, FarooK College and Dr. K. Abdul Hameed, Principal, Regional College of Science & Humanities, Malappuram, was found of no merit by the court of Justice Vinod Chandra who upheld the appointment of Dr. Aziz and dismissed the petition.

Women’s College organizes Breast Cancer awareness event

Aligarh:Dr Mohsin Raza, Senior Consultant, General Surgeon and Group Director and Facilitator of ‘Breast Cancer awareness among Indian women’ recently briefed a gathering at the Women’s College Auditorium, Aligarh Muslim University assembled to observe a mega ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ event on the occasion of ‘World Cancer Day’.

Aligarh:The Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) under the patronage of AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) will inaugurate the two-days ‘National Conference on Recent Trends in Nuclear Physics’ in the Conference Hall of the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University on February 15.

ALIGARH :The Department of Radiotherapy, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a road side camp at Ramghat road to commemorate the World Cancer Day. The aim was to raise awareness about prevention and treatment of cancer amongst the general public and to develop practical strategies to address the cancer burden.

Institute of Persian Research organizes seminar on ‘Dimensions of Persian Language and Literature Available during Akbar’s Reign and the Safavi Period’

Aligarh: The Institute of Persian Research, Aligarh Muslim University in collaboration with the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi and National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi today inaugurated the three-day International Seminar on ‘Dimensions of Persian Language and Literature Available during Akbar’s Reign and the Safavi Period’ at the Auditorium of Z H College of Engineering and Technology.

Aligarh:Mr Syed Sultan Salahuddin, Deputy Finance Officer (Cash) and Mr Faisal Nafees, Principal STS High School were elected as the President and Vice-President respectively of the Aligarh Muslim University Officer’s Association after a General Body Meeting.

Road Show for cancer awareness

ALIGARH:In order to mark the Global Cancer Awareness Day, the Department of Radiotherapy, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a Road Show at Ramghat Road, Near Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital on February 4, 2016. The Road Show is aimed at creating awareness about Cancer and educating people on prevention and early detection of the dreaded disease.

ALIGARH: The Aligarh Muslim University’s Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology will pass through a litmus test on various counts by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). A Peer Team of the NBA will visit Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology during February 19-21, 2016.
A consultative meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah to make an assessment of the preparation for the NBA team’s visit.Pro-Vice Chancellor Brig. S. Ahmad Ali, Registrar, Dr. Asfar Ali Khan, Finance Officer, Prof. S. M. Jawed Akhtar, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Principal, Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology, Prof. M.M. UGC HRD organizes cultural evening

Aligarh:The Aligarh Muslim University UGC Human Resource Development Centre recently organized a literary and cultural evening, which was attended by AMU teachers and scholars.Professor Seemin Hassan, Chairperson, Department of English and Prof Samina Khan recited their poems during the event. Prof Khan also expressed hopes that there will be more such cultural programmes in future.

Deptt of Biochemistry to host international conference

Aligarh:The Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Life Sciences, Aligarh Muslim University is going to host an international Conference on “Emerging Trends in Biomedical Sciences” (ETBS-2016) to be held on March 6-8, 2016.

AMU to organize International Seminar on Dimensions of Persian Language and Literature

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) will preside the three-day ‘Annual International Seminar’ on ‘Dimensions of Persian Language and Literature available During Akbar’s Reign and the Safavi Period’ beginning from February 3, 2016. The Seminar will be organized by the Institute of Persian Research, AMU in collaboration with the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi and National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi.

अलीगढ़: अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के चार छात्रों को अनुशासनहीनता एवं दुराचरण के आरोप में निलंबित कर दिया गया है।
एएमयू के प्राॅक्टर प्रोफेसर मुहम्मद मोहसिन खाॅन ने बताया है कि डिप्लोमा इन लैदर एण्ड फुटवियर टेक्नालोजी के छात्र शीराज़ अली खाॅन बीए के छात्र दीपांशु श्रीवास्तव, मुहम्मद फैजान और शहज़ी सलीम को गत शनिवार 30 जनवरी को शमशाद मार्किट पर हुई फायरिंग की घटना में प्रथम दृष्या दोषी पाये जाने पर मामले की पूरी जाॅच होने तक निलंबित कर दिया गया है और विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में उनके प्रवेश पर भी पाबंदी लगा दी गई है। फायरिंग की इस घटना में बीएएलएलबी का छात्र मुहम्मद खालिद अली गोली लगने एवं धारदार हथियार से हमले में घायल हो गया था।

एएमयू के स्कूलों के बदले नाम

अलीगढ़ : अलीगढ़ मुस्लिम विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति ने स्कूल शिक्षा निदेशालय के निदेशक की संस्तुति पर यूनीवर्सिटी के स्कूलों का पुनः नामकरण किया है।
रजिस्ट्रार डाॅ. असफर अली खाॅन ने बताया है कि एसटीएस हाई स्कूल, एएमयू गल्र्स हाई स्कूल और एएमयू सिटी हाई स्कूल का नाम परिवर्तित होकर अब क्रमश एसटीएस स्कूल, एएमयू गल्र्स स्कूल और एएमयू सिटी स्कूल हो गया है। इसके अलावा अब्दुल्लाह नर्सरी एण्ड प्राइमरी स्कूल का नाम परिवर्तित होकर अब्दुल्ला स्कूल हो गया है।
