ALIGARH:The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah announced that the election of the AMU Students’ Union will be held in the third week of October 2014. He was interacting with aspirants for various posts of the Students’ Union.

Lt Gen Shah urged that the students, teachers and University administration has a tripartite role to play to make the University number one in the country. He hoped that the newly elected students’ body would conduct like a student and not as an administrator. He advised the student leaders to avoid interference in the routine affairs of the University, be it academic or administrative.

The Vice Chancellor exhorted the students, “Your conduct should be above board and you should be a source of inspiration for all students as far as discipline, ethics and behavior is concerned”. He said that the behavior of last Students’ Union leader was a bad experience. They spent 22 Lakhs in three months. Now, University has decided to get the financial control in its own hand to avoid any chance of financial irregularities.

Gen Shah urged the students to ensure safety and security of all those associated with the University, particularly girl students and lady teachers. He advised them not to allow themselves to become a tool in the hands of manipulative elements and ensure outsiders do not gain access to hostels or faculties.
