ALIGARH:The Aligarh Muslim University has secured Grade A by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which recently conducted an assessment exercise at the University campus.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council, in its assessment result of 130 First Cycle institutions published March 3, 2015 after the 5th Meeting of its Standing Committee, has given 3.35 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) to AMU.
The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah has expressed happiness and congratulated students, faculty members and non-teaching staff on the historic achievement. He said that it was a collective effort of all members of the University fraternity, which created a niche for AMU amongst the few best universities in India.
Gen. Shah reiterated that all efforts will be made to garner first position amongst all universities and institutions of higher learning when the AMU goes for second cycle assessment. He urged the AMU community to work harder to achieve the target.
A high profile NAAC Peer team led by Prof. G. N. Qazi, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi visited the Aligarh Muslim University on February 9-12, 2015 and carried a comprehensive assessment of the AMU on various yardsticks. During the four day stay in University campus, the NAAC team visited different Departments of Studies, Colleges, Centres, Halls of residence, playgrounds and interacted with several quarters of AMU community including students, teachers, non-teaching staff, alumni, parents of students and members of Executive Council and Academic Council.
