On the occasion, Professor A Nujum, Director, Malappuram Centre, paid respect to Dr B R Ambedkar, for giving constitution to the country. Prof Nujum said that Dr Ambedkar always supported the protection of fundamental Rights and advocated that freedom of expression and speech is basic requirement for everyone.
Dr Faisal K P, Coordinator, Department of Law, Malappuram Centre said that it is a collective responsibility of every citizen to protect, preserve and extend the values enshrined in the constitution.
While speaking on the topic of ‘Importance of Law Day Celebration’, Assistant Professor, Mr Mohammad Abu Shahid talked about why traditional outlook of law profession must change in the light of new developments and how alternate dispute redressal mechanism is important.
Assistant Professor Mr Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik, who spoke on the topic, ‘Law and Law Day’ expressed gratitude towards framers of constitution. He added that the prime objective of any law should be to provide Justice as he discussed the principle of ‘Lex Malla Lex Nulla (A bad Law is no Law)’ during his speech.
Meanwhile student speaker, Palak Malhotra, discussed the importance of constitution in our legal system.
Teachers-in-Charges of Law Society, Mr Shahnawaz Ahmed Malik, Mr Mohd Abu Shahid and Miss Neelam Faizan along with Student Secretary Law Society, Shivendra Raj Singhal supervised the Legal Quiz Competition, which was won by Manoj Tomar and Praveen Kumar. Ramsha Tanveer and Ghazi Gufran, Vaibhav Pandey and Shah Momin stood second while Anwar Ansari and Mursalim Khan came third.
While delivering the inaugural speech, Mr Shivdendra Raj Singhal, Secretary, Law Society talked about various activities of Law Society.Ms Suman conducted the programme. Mr Amir Faisal proposed the vote of thanks.
