AMU PVC visits UMEED Firdaus Nagar Center

Aligarh:Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (Veteran) today visited the UMEED Firdaus Nagar Center,
which is run by AMU Alumnus and Senior Consultant General Surgeon, Dr Mohsin Raza. On the visit, AMU Pro Vice Chancellor distributed jackets to over 150 slum children from neighbouring slums.
On the occasion, Brigadier Ali addressed the slum children and appreciated the volunteers, who have initiated the UMEED project for the literacy of kids from the down trodden section. Brigadier Ali also pointed out that soon, he will himself start a similar program. He added that the slum children associated with the ‘SHOW THEM SCHOOL’ Project will soon attend different schools and achieve great success in their lives. Brigadier Ali added that it will be very nice to see these kids attending AMU for their higher studies. The Pro Vice Chancellor later visited the Juggee Complex, which is occupied mainly by rag pickers and rikshaw pullers.Meanwhile, Dr Naseem Ahmad and Dr Qurratul Ain promised to include the Firdaus Nagar slum in their teaching and development program.The Medics volunteers who look after the administration at UMEED Firdaus Nagar Center accompanied the Pro Vice Chancellor during the visit.
Prof Shahid Siddiqi, a founder member of group and Miss Shahnoor Shan Mohammad from the Department of Linguistics, AMU were also present on the occasion.
