AMU VC releases ‘Plant Tissue Culture: Propagation, Conservation and Crop Improvement’ edited version

Aligarh:Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (Veteran) recently released a book, titled ‘Plant Tissue Culture: Propagation, Conservation and Crop Improvement’ edited by
Professor M Anis and Dr Naseem Ahmad. The book has been published by internationally known, Springer Publications.
This book has 26 chapters and five different sections with detailed information on varied topics from vitro technology to plant conservation. The contributions in the book have come from various International laboratories.
The documented protocols in the book highlight the role of Plant Tissue Culture in the commercial propagation, genetic engineering, crop improvement and conservation of various fruit, ornamental, spice, forestry and medicinal plant species.     
The editors of the book are well known scientists, academics and researchers in their respective fields. While, Prof Anis has 31-years of teaching and research experience in Biotechnology and Cytogenetics; Dr Ahmad is associated with SERB-DST, New Delhi as Young Scientist with seven-years of post-doctoral experience in Morphogenesis and Plant Tissue Culture. 
Prof Anis has published over 185 research and review articles in Journals of International repute. He is recipient of National (1992) and Overseas (1994) Biotechnology Associateship of DBT, Government of India. He has been INSA Visiting Scientist to Frankfurt University (1998) and Institute of Genetics and Plant Biotechnology, Nitra (2006), Slovak Republic. Prof Anis has also been conferred with the Eminent Scientist Award (2007) by National Environmental Science Academy, New Delhi; Vigyan Ratan Samman (2010) of Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh; Professor P Maheshwari Medal (2013) and Mid-Career award of UGC (2015) for his significant contribution in Medicinal Plant Biotechnology. He has also been Program Coordinator of several major projects like DST-FIST (I and II), UGC-DRS (I and II) and DBT-HRD.
Dr Ahmad has published about 37 research papers in Journals of International repute. He has also contributed five book chapters and 43 abstracts in various conferences. He is a member in the Editorial Board of various journals, holds Life Membership of many Scientific Societies and is a Fellow of Indian Botanical Society (FBS). Dr Ahmad is recipient of ‘National Scholarship’ of Slovak Republic (2013); Yuva Vaigiyanik Samman (2009), CST, Uttar Pradesh; Young Scientist (2010) NESA, New Delhi; Rashtriya Gaurav Award (2015), India International Friendship Society, New Delhi and Young Scientist of the year (2015), International Foundation for Environment and Ecology (IFEE), Kolkata.  He has also received Post Graduate Merit Scholarship in MSc and Best Oral presentation award at BBAU (Central University), Lucknow. He has also availed Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) of CSIR, New Delhi.
