ALIGARH.Professor A.R. Kidwai, Director, UGC Academic Staff
College, Aligarh Muslim University delivered keynote address at the XIV
Annual Conference of All India Association of Teacher Educators (AIATE) on
“Teaching as a Profession”. The conference was held at the Baikunthi Devi
Girls’ Degree College, Agra.
In his address Professor Kidwai exhorted the teachers to follow the best
practices and to serve as mentors and resource persons. He explained the
British higher educational system, drawing attention to the features of
academic excellence, transparency, accountability and integrity in the
western education delivery system. He focused also on the need for
value-based education. Another area of major concern is unemployability of
our graduates owing to the lack of soft skills in them. Teachers can play
an important role in catering to these needs and aspirations of students.
