AMU faculty members and scholars attend Indian Botanical Society Conference

Aligarh:A group of Aligarh Muslim University’s Department of Botany faculty members and research scholars including Professor Mohammad Anis, Prof Altaf Ahmad, Dr Naseem Ahmad, Ms Afsheen Shahid and Ms Mehrun Nisha Khanam recently participated in the 38th Annual Conference of Indian Botanical Society and the National Symposium on ‘Emerging Trends in Plant Sciences’ at the University of Jaipur.

During the programme, CSIR-NET and ARS-NET scholar, Ms Afsheen Shahid was awarded Prof SVS Chauhan Gold Medal for her presentation on ‘In Vitro Anthocyanin production from callus cultures of Salix Tetrasperma Roxb. Ms Afsheen is working as a MNF-SRF awarded by UGC, New Delhi under the supervision of Prof Mohammad Anis.Meanwhile, Dr Naseem Ahmad, a DST-Young Scientist was admitted as Fellow of Indian Botanical Society (FBS) during the conference.
Prof Altaf Ahmad delivered a lecture on ‘Differential expression profile of proteins of Nitrogen-deficiency tolerant and sensitive wheat varieties’ in the section of Genetics and molecular Biology while Prof Anis chaired a session on ‘Morphogenesis and Biotechnology’.
