UGC HRDC organizes two-day Academic Leadership Programme for school principals and managers

Aligarh:The University Grants Commission Human Resource Development Centre (UGC HRD), Aligarh Muslim University recently organized a two-day Academic Leadership Programme for the principals and managers of the Minorities Managed Degree Colleges (MMDCs) of India.


This programme was launched as a part of the PMMMNMTT, MHRD, Government of India. At least 35 school principals from the states of Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh attended the programme.

Speaking at the Inaugural Session, Professor A R Kidwai, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU outlined the broad objectives of the project and solicited the cooperation of the Principals and managers of the MMDCs.

He said that the MMDCs should be at par with the best practices in teaching, learning and education management.

Prof Kidwai reiterated the commitment of the UGC HRDC, AMU to act as a nodal centre to take the enriching benefits of the AMU to the MMDCs.

He confirmed that during the programme, eminent AMU resource persons have interacted with participants for bringing about their professional development.

Professor Parvaiz Talib, Faculty of Management Studies, interacted with the Principals on personality development and personal presentation.

He encouraged the participants to develop clear thought process and critical thinking. In his participatory interaction, he chiseled the self-presentation abilities of the Principals.

Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Professor and Assistant Director, UGC HRDC, AMU welcomed the participants. She said that this is the first in a series of training courses planned for the faculty of MMDCs under the CALEM (Centre of Academic Leadership and Education Management) project of the MHRD at the UGC HRDC, AMU.
