UGC HRDC launches courses for MMDCs

Aligarh:December:The UGC Human Resource Development Centre, AMU has launched a one-week short-term course for the teachers of the Minorities Managed Degree Colleges (MMDC) in India.
With ‘Data Analysis – SPSS and MINITAB’ as the theme, the course will have theory and practical classes. The outstation participants will also be given educational visits of the AMU campus.
 
At least, 48 Assistant and Associate Professors from MMDCs in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh; Alappuzha, Kerala; Aurangabad and Mumbai, Maharashtra; Patna, Bihar; Hyderpora, Jammu and Kashmir; Simghbhum, Jharkhand and AMU have enrolled for this course.
While addressing the course participants at the Inaugural Function, Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director UGC Human Resource Development Centre said that the Centre for Academic Leadership and Education Management (CALEM) at the UGC HRDC, AMU aims to bring about academic rejuvenation and renaissance at the Colleges run by the Muslim Community across the country.
He added that the backward communities in India need to look at the prosperous minorities of the world and start focusing on developing special skills and improving academically.While welcoming the guests, Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Professor, UGC HRDC pointed out that this is the third course organized under CALEM and implemented by the MHRD at the UGC HRDC, AMU as part of the PMMMNMTT scheme.
She said that the unique feature of CALEM is that the academic benefits of AMU will be taken to the MMDCs situated in far away locations, who would otherwise remain unaware of the best practices in teaching and learning.Professor Qazi Mazhar, Department of Statistics and Operations Research is the Course Coordinator.
