Reacting to the press release issued by the AMUTA, the University administration has made it clear that all the appointments and promotions have been made fully in consonance with the concerned rules and regulations and AMUTA is not a body to decide the eligibility and suitability of the candidates. It is the responsibility of the General Selection Committee to decide the suitability of a candidate depending on teaching ability and research potential, that includes PhD and projects.
The University administration clarified that, during the last few years, special attention has been paid to enhance the academic and research potential of the university by several means including increasing the number of PhD seats in almost all the Departments of Study. Further, infrastructural facilities have been upgraded in all Faculties to facilitate teachers to conduct quality research and bring more and more research projects from various agencies.
The the high ranking of the University by various grading agencies is a result of AMU’s consistent efforts to upgrade on the basis of better teaching and research.
Referring to the allegation made by AMUTA regarding the conferment of honorary degree to Mr. Frank Islam, the Aligarh Muslim University said that Mr. Islam, who is a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist and an alumnus of the AMU, deserved this honour for his love and concern for the alma mater. The University clarified that Mr. Islam has so far made a large donation for the construction of new management Complex. The University expected more donations to be made by other alumni in near future.
The AMU administration has stressed that the Vice Chancellor has taken into consideration all important aspects before allocating funds for various purposes in the University and the AMUTA has no locus standi in this matter to dictate the priorities made by the Vice Chancellor.
Regarding shifting of teaching positions from one department to another, AMU clarified that the University Grants Commission has empowered the University to allocate teaching positions in the departments of study where the requitement of teaching positions in a particular department is more needed.
