Donated jewelries put in Library Museum

ALIGARH:The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah today handed over the jewelry donated by Dr. Afshan Hashmi, a US based AMU alumna, and a set of two golden bangles donated by Mrs. Saba Naqvi, a UAE based alumna, to Dr. Nabi Hasan, AMU Librarian for keeping these valuable jewelry in safe custody of the Library Museum. The Vice Chancellor made it clear that these jewelries will be displayed at the Musa Dakri Museum later on.
Dr. Afshan Hashmi had gifted a beautiful 22 carat gold necklace studded with invaluable real pearls to her Alma Mater on January 6, 2015. The antique jewelry also includes a pair of earrings and a finger ring.

Dr. Afshan Hashmi’s jewelry was put to auction which drew the highest bid of Rs. 11 Lakh by an alumnus Mr. Raees Ahmad, Chairman and Managing Director of Rassaz Group, Mumbai. He later gifted the jewelry also to the University as a mark of respect to his Alma Mater.The bidding for the set of two gold bangles donated by Mrs. Saba Naqvi closed at Rs. 7.5 Lakh.
These valuable gold jewelries will be displayed at Moosa Dakri Museum in a bullet proof glass enclosure.On this occasion, Mrs. Sabiha Simi Shah, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Suhail Sabir, Chairman, AMU Alumni Affairs Committee, Prof. Ali Athar, Director, Musa Dakri Museum and Dr. Rahat Abrar, Consultant, Public Relations were also present.
