Retired Judge appointed as Inquiry Officer

ALIGARH:The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University has appointed Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza, Retired Judge, Allahabad High Court as Inquiry officer to conduct a Judicial Enquiry into the incident of rioting, arson and firing occurred in the University Campus in the intervening night of 23-24 April, 2016 by a group of students in collusion with some expelled students and criminals.

The inquiry will investigate the following and pinpoint person(s) responsible for the incidents which took place that night.Background of the problem and the conspiracy, if any to derail the functioning of the University. Motive of the arsonists, Circumstances leading to the firing and resultant death of Mr. Mahtab Alam and Mr. Mohd Wakif. Identity leaders and their supporters during the episode. Backup supporters/mentors in the whole episode. Role of outsiders/criminals in providing manpower, illicit weapons and ammunition.
In an office memo, AMU Register, Professor Asfar Ali Khan said that the inquiry officer is requested to conduct the inquiry in a time bond manner and submit his report by 15th July, 2016.
