Children’s Day Function held at Ismat Literary and Handicraft Centre

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Ladies Club recently organized a Children’s Day function with the theme of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ at the Ismat Literary and Handicraft Centre. The function was organized for the under-privileged children attending the AMU Ladies Club run school.

During the function, groups of children performed various cultural activities including a musical plays on child labour and importance of education. One of these plays, ‘Itni si Hansi’, which depicted innocence of children, feelings of sharing and enjoyment became the highlight of the event for the gathering of children’s wards, teachers, AMU staff and members of the AMU ladies club.The participating students also took part in poetry recitations and singing performances. Another highlight of the event was the AMU Tarana performance by senior girls of the school and staff members.
The AMU Ladies Club members and executive members also distributed gifts and prizes to the children besides appreciating the cultural performances.Encouraging the performances of the children, writer and artist, Dr Zoya Zaidi, Chief Guest advised the students to learn and pursue their talents without any hesitation. She also urged the children to ask questions regarding their surroundings.Mrs Rizwana Shahid, daughter-in-law of Ismat Literary and Handicraft Centre founder, late Mrs Jamila Siddiqui also attended the event. Ms Sabiha Naaz Lari, In-charge of the Centre and Secretary of the Ladies Club delivered the vote of thanks.
