Faiz remembered at AMU

Aligarh:University Debating and Literary Club, in association with University Drama Club, University Fusion Music Club, University Western Music Club and University Fine Arts Club, Aligarh Muslim University organized a programme titled “Irtiyash” at Cultural Educational Centre, AMU to commemorate the 31st death anniversary of noted Urdu poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.


The artworks and posters on Faiz Ahmed Faiz prepared by University Fine Arts Club adorned the venue. Professor Maula Baksh, Department of Urdu, AMU, while speaking on the work of Faiz, said that he never discriminated between poetry and life and gave due importance to both. He suggested all to read his poetry with the point of view of literature.

Shahzeb Khan, University Drama Club narrated one of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poem. Throughout the programme, Zainab Ghazi, Talha Kamaal, Afzal Khan, Omer Ghazi along with other students read aloud poems of Faiz. The poems included ‘ye galion ke awaarey kuttey’ and ‘kab thehrega dard-e-dil’. Rubab Hasan and Syed Ahmed Noman presented a power point presentation on Faiz’s life.  A ghazal “Hum dekhenge” was sung by Faizan Ilahi, Ali Taqi, Gulrez Hussain , Varisha Sami and Nabeel Firoz. Siraj Ajmali, president, of University Debating and Literary Club, AMU delivered the final speech.
