Brig. Ali was speaking at the Sir Syed Day celebration programme organized by the AMU Alumni Forum, UAE, which has made history by organizing the largest gathering of Aligs in the world. He confirmed that he has been travelling and attending the alumni programmes all over the world but nowhere had he seen such a large number of Aligs at one venue.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. Ali said that Sir Syed’s educational mission marks the most important epoch in the Post Mogul history of Indian Muslims. “He had a clear vision that without modern and scientific education and knowledge of English language, Indian Muslims would be marginalized pushed to the low of lowest position in the social strata of the country. The traditional religious leadership failed to realize this fact and did not heed to the call of the time”, asserted Brig. Ali.
He said that the University was progressing by leaps and bounds. He appreciated the role of the Alumni who generously supported the development and construction projects in the university. He declared that the financial and moral support that AMU was receiving from alumni groups in general and the UAE chapter in particular was beyond his imagination and above all their expectations.
Dr. Mohammad Saeed Al Kindi, former Minister for Environment and Water, UAE and Patron of AMU Alumni Forum-UAE presented welcome speech and appreciated the role of Indians in development of UAE.
President of the Forum, Mr. Syed Mohammad Qutbur Raham reminded Aligs of their responsibility towards the nation and the community. He urged them to provide help and leadership to the community all over the world.
Mr. Ameer Ahmad, Chairman, Manappat Foundation lambasted that organizing the Sir Syed Day celebration programmes were not enough as more was needed to be done on large scale in educating Muslims of the North India, especially in UP, Bihar, Bengal and Assam. Citing example of Kerala, he said the development model had to be copied to attain remarkable progress in education, job and business. Describing his recent visits to some of the remote villages of UP, he gave gruesome detailed description of the sufferings of the destitute Muslims who lived there in abject poverty.
The guest of honour, Mr. Deepak Mishra, Secretary, International Social Council, President, Samajwadi Bouddhik Chintan Sabha & Editor, Anuchintan charged the people with emotion by demanding Bharat Ratna Award to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan for his great services to the nation.
