Scores of teachers enroll in new UGC HRDC courses

Aligarh:Around 170 University and College teachers have enrolled in a recently launched three new courses of the UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University. These courses include a three-week Winter School in Disaster Management, a Subject Refresher Course in Library and Information Science and a four-week Orientation Programme 140.

University and College level teachers from at least 10 states including Assam, Delhi, Goa, Haryana, Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, MP, Maharashtra, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh have enrolled in these courses.During the Inaugural Function, Professor Abdur Raheem Kidwai, Director, UGC HRDC, AMU said that so far, these courses have received a very good response from participating teachers across the country.
“The three important benefits of these courses are refreshing knowledge, getting exposure to the best practices of teaching learning and developing group camaraderie amongst Indians of various cultures and regions,” said Prof Kidwai.He pointed out that AMU has always kept it doors open for seekers and disseminators of knowledge.
Welcoming the participants, Dr Faiza Abbasi, Assistant Professor, UGC HRDC, said that educational tours and home visits to the AMU Faculty will be organized during the course.She further said that the spirit of the home visits is to improve cross cultural interaction and remove misperceptions about other regions.Dr Abbasi also pointed out that computer and Wi Fi connectivity will be available to the participants in the entire HRDC premises including their hostel rooms.
Prof Shahab Fazal, Department of Geography is the course coordinator for Special Winter School on the theme Disaster Management and Dr Mehtab Alam, Associate Professor Department of Library and Information Science is the course coordinator for the SRC in Library and Information Science. Both the course coordinators were present during the function and have roped in eminent resource persons for the session to be held during the duration of the course.
