Disability Unit organizes orientation programme for volunteers

ALIGARH:Disability Unit, Aligarh Muslim University organized an orientation programme for volunteers for the session 2015-16 at Conference Hall Department of Education recently. Professor Sufyan Beg, Principal Z.H. College of Engineering and Technology presided over the programme as the chief guest.


Addressing on the occasion, Prof. Beg emphasised that voluntary efforts to help differently-abled students, needy and less privileged are signs of gratefulness to Almightily Allah for His favours and need to be performed with utmost purity of intention and in a dignified way as commanded by Allah.

He said that Islam lays a lot of emphasis on taking care of the weaker and less privileged sections of society and detailed rules and regulations are in place to be observed in offering help to them. The Aligarh Muslim University has always been on forefront of helping the weaker sections of society.

Dr. Abdul Hamid Fazli, Coordinator, Disability Unit complimented the volunteers for offering their services to mitigate the sufferings of differently-abled students at AMU campus. He emphasised that religion and humanity always encouraged people to take care of less privileged and offer services to all without any discrimination on the basis of caste, creed, colour or religion. He exhorted them to work for raising the morale of the physically and visually challenged students and offer help to them with utmost care and attention.

Dr Mustaq Ahmad Zargar, Department of Modern Indian Language emphasised the importance of voluntary efforts to help needy and less privileged. 

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Kutty, Counsellor cum Placement Officer of the Unit stressed the need for co-opting more students in voluntary services. He claimed that a wider network of volunteers in all departments and halls of residence will provide necessary help to the Disabled students.

Volunteers like Abdus Salam Nadir, Mohd Nasir Uzma Khan and Mohd Amir also shared their experiences and offered ideas for future course. Students from Abdullah Hall, I.G.Hall, Begum Sultan Jahan Hall, M.M. Hall, R.M. Hall, Aftab Hall, Allama Iqbal Hall, S.Z. Hall, N.R.S.C and other halls were also present on the occasion.
