AMU Research Scholar discuss deadly fevers in light of Vedas

Aligarh:Tahasin Mondal, a Research Scholar at the Department of Sanskrit, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded the Certificate of Outstanding Research Paper at the 19th India Conference of Wider Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES) held at Delhi Sanskrit Academy. The certificate was awarded for his research paper titled ‘Malaria, Dengue and other associated fevers in the light of Atharva Veda- A study in medicine’, which he presented at the Conference.

In his paper he mentioned that the ancient sages, without having any recourse to lab or any other modern technology, had prescribed the causes and remedies of fevers thousands of years ago, the information related to which had been discovered by the western scientists only in the past 250 years. Mondal said that the scientists, with the help of labs and other advanced technologies, had ascertained the fevers like Malaria and Dengue only recently. He pointed out that in the field of Ayurveda and medical science, Atharvaveda is the ultimate source of remedies.
Mondal mentioned that there is a description of some kind of fevers in Veda, some of which carry resemblance with dengue. Therefore he felt the need to come forward and carry out research in this context.Tahasin Mondal has been doing his research under the supervision of Professor Rani Majumdar at the Department of Sanskrit, AMU.
