Dept of Commerce organizes International Conference on ‘Make in India.’

Aligarh:The Department of Commerce, Aligarh Muslim University today organized a two ‘International Conference on Make in India, Campaign for Inclusive Growth, Initiatives and Challenges’ at the University Polytechnic auditorium.

Delivering the keynote address at the inaugural function of the conference, Dr Shalendra Kumar, Additional Director General, Prasar Bharati, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that the ‘Make in India’ initiative is to encourage multinational, as well as domestic, companies to manufacture their products in India so that India would emerge as the top destination globally for foreign direct investment, surpassing other economic powers.
Adding that the ‘Make in India’ campaign is targeted to create one million jobs per month, Dr Kumar said that the focus of the campaign is also on skill enhancement in twenty-five different sectors of the economy.
“The initiative aims at high quality standards and minimizing the impact on the environment,” said Dr Kumar adding that the initiative hopes to attract capital and technological investment in India.
While pointing out the problems and challenges in ‘Make In India’ campaign, Dr Kumar said that creating healthy business environment will be possible, when the administrative machinery is efficient. He added that a business friendly environment will be created if India can signal easier approval of projects and set up hastle-free clearance mechanism.Guest of Honour, Dr Anna Rosengren, Director GNH, Sweden and Prof Javed Alam Khan, Chairman, Department of Commerce also attended the programme.
Dr Mohd Shamim delivered the vote of thanks while research scholar Mr Md Nayyer Rahman conducted the programme.
