AMU EC draws a panel of five for new Vice Chancellor

ALIGARH:The Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University, at its special meeting today, recommended a panel of five persons in alphabetical order for consideration of the University Court, in terms of Statute 2(1) of the Statutes of the University.
The names of five persons included in the panel are Prof. Furqan Qamar, Secretary General, Association of Indian Universities, Mr. Javed Usmani (Retired IAS), presently Chief Information Commissioner, Uttar Pradesh, Prof. Seyed E. Hasnain, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Hyderabad, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, AMU and Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Principal and CMS, J. N. Medical College, AMU.

The special meeting of the Executive Council was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah. The members considered a panel of 24 names, obtained through wide consultation. Nine names were proposed and shortlisted and put to vote. Out of these five names are being put up for consideration by the Court.

According to the Statutes of the University, the Vice Chancellor shall be appointed by the Visitor from a panel of at least three persons recommended by the AMU Court.
