North Zone comprising 8 AMU players win Vizzy Trophy 2015-16

Aligarh:North Zone defeated West Zone cricket team in the final match by 4 wickets to win the Vizzy Trophy cricket tournament 2015-16 organized by BCCI in New Delhi. The North Zone team comprised of eight players from Aligarh Muslim University.


Tahmeed Ahmad (captain, North Zone team), Mirza Hashir Beg, Mohd Sultan, Sultan Ansari, Ravindra Singh, Salman Ahmad Khan, Saad Ghazanfar and Gavendra Goswami from AMU played for North Zone team in the tournament and proved their worth by their remarkable performances.

Batting first, the West Zone team scored 603 with Sandeep Mor scoring 174 runs. Karan Dagar took 3 wickets while Sultan Ansari and Rohan Rathi took 2 wkts each for North zone. In reply North Zone team reached the target by losing 6 wickets with Kunal Chandela scoring 318 runs, Saleem Ansari 102 runs and Rajesh Sharma 89 runs. Puneet Tripathi of west zone took 3 wickets.
Previously, in the semi final match, North Zone defeated East zone team by a big margin of 117 runs. The match saw Amit Verma of North Zone scoring a whopping 203 runs.

Professor Shoaib Zaheer, Secretary, AMU Games Committee and Dr Moinuddin, President, AMU Cricket Club have congratulated all the eight participating students of AMU over the success.
