The Formula Car has left for the event venue from Aligarh Muslim University. The event is scheduled to take place from July 14 to 17, 2016.In a first instance of AMU students participating in such an event at an International racing circuit, AMU engineering students team will be one of the four teams from Indian universities to participate in the event. AMU team will represent India in the competition with teams from IIT Bombay, Delhi Technical University (DTU) and Chitkara University Punjab.
The AMU team includes Arpit Upadhayay, Ayush Mittal, Anchal Varshney, Mehul Varshney, Irfan Khan, Haani Farooqi, Mridul Sharma, Mohd Faraz, Sharif Kidwai, Asim Noor, Faizan Anwar, Hamzah Khan, Asnal Rizvi, Kashif Zafar, Syed Faraz, Faraz Ahmad, Sagar Varshney, Areeb Mahmood, Wamiq Hashmi and Aman Agarwal among others.These students are from Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering backgrounds.
The AMU team started building the Formula racing car in March 2015 and completed in June 2016.Weighing 200 kgs, the AMU Formula car has an engine of Honda CBR 250CC. Its various parts have been imported from USA and Germany for the best results while the body of the car is self-designed and made from carbon-fibre to make it light weight and suited for the racing applications.
Team Captain, Arpit Upadhyay said that the maximum speed of the car is 110 km/hr.He added that after an encouraging response from last year’s performance in Formula Student India where the team won the Most Popular Formula Car Award, it is expected that the team will bring laurels with their International participationHe further said that the total cost in development of the car is approximately Rs 25 Lakhs.The AMU team has also conveyed their gratitude to AMU alumni organization of 87,89,90,91,93 batches and Alumni Organization of Jeddah, Qatar, Riyadh, North America and many other individual Alumni without whose support the project would have been not been possible.
These students have also thanked the AMU Administration and the ZHCET teachers for their guidance and support, which they said has been their inspiration.The AMU team was also supported by PAYTM, Sleepwell, Carbon Light, Epson, PK Engg Works, Shalimar Lucknow, Gedore Tools, Bombay Tools and Hindoostan Fabrics among others with their sponsorship and technical help.AMU Alumni Association of UK will receive the team members on arrival in London on July 12 at London Airport and arrange for the transportation to the event venue.
