Sweta attend 26th Annual IFAMA World Conference

Aligarh:Sweta Gupta, Research Scholar at the Department of Agricultural Economics, Aligarh Muslim University recently participated in the 26th Annual IFAMA World Conference held at Aarhus, Denmark. The Conference was jointly organized by IFAMA, WICANEM and Danish Food Cluster.
During the conference Ms Gupta presented her Research paper on ‘Food Nutritional Security through livestock sector: Variations across the world’. In her presentation, she highlighted that the world is characterized by enormous nutritional inequities. Ms Gupta said that animal products make important contributions to improve human nutrition, especially through providing micronutrients to the diet. She pointed out that there is an increase in the consumption of livestock products in the World, but the pattern of consumption is very uneven.

Ms Gupta mentioned that the study, conducted by her, aims to analyze the emerging trends in the status of nutritional security through animal based products across the world. She said that it gives insight on differences in consumption and nutritional intake from livestock products and is also directed towards imparting suggestions which can be used by policy makers to make consumption and nutritional intake from animal based products more even. The study also explores the possibilities for people to get more food and nutrition from the rising livestock production, Ms Gupta added.

She informed that IFAMA is an effective global networking organization acting as a bridge between the researchers and educators of the agribusiness industry and the Govt. as well as Non-Govt. organizations.

Ms Gupta is carrying out her research work under the supervision of Professor Akram Ahmad Khan, Chairperson, Department of Agricultural Economics, AMU.
