AMU signs MoU with Manglayatan University

ALIGARH:The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mangalayatan University (MU), Aligarh “to develop cooperation and promote mutual understanding and excellence in  practice based education, research and knowledge exchange”.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, Registrar, AMU and Cdr Manjeet Singh, Registrar, Mangalayatan University, in the presence of AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brig. S. Ahmad Ali.

AMU Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah said that for the first time AMU has signed an MoU with a local University which will facilitate many initiatives for the betterment of local people besides bring AMU and MU together to work in the direction of making Aligarh a Smart City.

The Vice Chancellor of Mangalayatan University, Prof. Satish Chandra Jain said that being an AMU alumnus, he has a special place for this great institution and signing this MoU will bring the two universities on a shared platform of research and development. He said that this MoU aims at developing the local lock industry and facilitate for the Technological and Software Park in Aligarh.

Agreeing to join hands and carry out collaborative research work in various fields, both the AMU and MU expressed willingness to work for alleviation of sufferings of the local rural and urban people of Aligarh and improving their quality of life. The agreement emphasized on conducting collaborative research work on water conservation and water management, including river water management, with special focus on Ganga and Yamuna. Both the leading universities showed interest in enhancing technology of local industries and emerging technologies.

The MoU also proposed the establishment of centres of cooperation through mutual agreement, providing for a Ganga Water Research Centre to be established by AMU and a Yamuna Water Research Centre by MU. The MoU facilitates exchange of information and fostering of collaboration in research and educational training programmes.

Prof. Javaid Akhtar, Controller of Examination, Prof. S.M. Jawaid Akhtar, Finance Officer, Prof. Jamshed Siddiqui, DSW, Prof. M. Mohsin Khan, Proctor, Prof. NAK Durrani, Dean, Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Nazim Ali, Dean, Faculty of International Studies and Prof. Jamal Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Medicine and Director, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology were also present on the occasion.
