AMU teachers present paper at Jai Narayan Vyas University, Jodhpur

Aligarh: Professor Samina Khan and Dr Rashmi Attri, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University recently presented their papers in a National Seminar on various areas of ‘Empowering Women through Prism of Social Justice’ held at the Centre for Women Studies, Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur.  
In her paper, titled, ‘Voicing the Dehumanized: A Study of Rape Victims’, Prof Samina Khan presented narratives with a special focus on victims from Gujarat, Muzaffar Nagar, Kashmir and other areas affected by communal violence.

She categorically stated that violation of women’s rights is an international phenomenon and no society can successfully claim that it has not violated the rights of women. 
Prof Khan emphasized that the victims should not be identified with their religion, caste and social status and their struggle for social justice should be acknowledged in prism of their constitutional identity in India. Her paper was a panorama of victim’s testimonies, which triggered discussions and conscience of everyone.Meanwhile, Dr Rashmi Attri presented a paper entitled ‘Through the ‘Sacred’ Door: Women in Religion’
At the end, each participant and presenter committed with strong conviction and high momentum for collaborative strategy and action plan to empower women in future.
Professors, educators, government officials, policy makers and research scholars of different states like Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, M P, U P, Punjab etc, attended the seminar. A total of 40 seminar papers not only gave an opportunity to share knowledge, promote awareness and demands but also fostered networking in context of ‘empowering women’.
