AMU AC on NEET

ALIGARH:A special meeting of the Academic Council of the Aligarh Muslim University was held today under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah to discuss the issue of MBBS/BDS entrance test.

The Vice Chancellor informed that an appeal of the AMU about National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) had been rejected by the Supreme Court. However, there is a possibility that the Government of India may issue an Ordinance which will enable the University to hold its own entrance test for MBBS/BDS. The Vice Chancellor however made it clear that no action will be taken by the University in contravention of the Supreme Court’s order.
The Academic Council has decided that the result of the Tier-I MBBS/BDS entrance test and conduct of Tier-II Entrance Test scheduled on June 1, 2016 be provisionally suspended.
The University has decided to wait and see if any ordinance is issued by the Government of India on the issue of NEET. Further notification will be issued as and when required. The University shall maintain its policy of selection criteria for admissions based on the merit list of NEET.
