AMU refutes Mr. Ashraf Mateen’s charges

ALIGARH: The Aligarh Muslim University has taken strong note of the ranting by Mr. Ashraf Mateen, Assistant Professor, Department of Petroleum Studies and Joint Secretary of the AMU Teacher’s Association (AMUTA), who, through emails to various AMU Alumni networks, has been trying to malign University authorities on the basis of unfounded allegations.
AMU said that Mr. Ashraf Mateen has committed himself to engaging “Jehad” against a plan to provide modern school education to deprived sections of society, predominantly Muslims. He obviously does not understand the meaning of “Jehad” or is against any step being taken for the betterment of the Muslim community.

It is clarified that the query of “audit” pertained to a complaint received by audit authorities that public money was transferred to a private trust. A suitable reply is being given. This was money collected by the AMU Students who had forsaken their Sir Syed Day Dinner and wished that the money be used for rehabilitation of Muzaffarnagar riot victims. It was used for construction of a school. In the same way in the next year students contributed for flood victims of J&K. This money was distributed to families, whose dwellings had been damaged by floods.

Mr. Ashraf Mateen’s disparaging remarks against Mr. Salman Jafri, who has made a significant contribution towards construction of the School of Jauala (Muzaffarnagar), are unfounded and in bad taste. It is clarified that Mr. Salman Jafri’s Company “New Millennium Ltd.” is  the project management consultant of two university projects awarded after an open tender invited by AMU.

Mr. Ashraf Mateen’s ranting are worthy of the “Dustbin”.
