Professor Ajmal informed that Fibroscan is the latest machine with the use of which the problem of liver stiffness, an indication of Chronic liver fibrosis, could be diagnosed. He said that in Aligarh, at present, where there is high prevalence of chronic liver diseases, only JN Medical is having the facility of Fibroscan.
Professor Ajmal said that liver related diseases could be managed properly if diagnosed at an early stage. Unfortunately the patients, at JN Medical College, go for treatment only at the terminal stage of the disease when liver transplant remain as the only treatment, he added. Professor also apprised about the available preventive measures of liver related diseases.
Prior to this, Professor Ajmal also organized similar camps which have been supplemented by the technical services of Abott India Ltd. He said that the camp has been organized every alternative Thursday at JN Medical College.
