Prof Kazmi present paper at International seminar

Aligarh: Professor Latif Hussain S. Kazmi, Department of Philosophy, Aligarh Muslim University was recently invited to present a paper in an International Seminar on ‘Islam and Human Rights’ in Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi. The Seminar was organized by the Al-Mustafa International University, Iran (India Branch) and Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi.

During the Seminar, Prof kazmi’s paper on ‘Human Rights in Islam and Peaceful Co-existence’ was greatly appreciated and intensively discussed by the International and Indian delegates attending the seminar.
In his paper, Prof Kazmi pointed out that human rights come before God’s Rights. He stressed that Islam underlines various aspects of human rights irrespective of any consideration of faith, culture, caste, race, region, gender, position or power.“Islam talks for both rights and duties to man and God and instructs the believers that God, the Qur’ān and Prophet Muhammad (Peace be Upon Him) are for all the realms of being and not for the Muslims only,” said Prof Kazmi pointing out that it is the duty of every Muslim to care and respect for every one’s right and a Muslim should serve Humanity at large.
He added that Islam also orders Muslims to show respect to animal rights and be concerned about other non-human creatures including environment.   Prof  Kazmi also spoke on the spirit of Islamic philosophy, mystic culture, and Islāmic teachings advocating the implementation of human rights with peace, goodwill, mutual love and understanding.The Islamic perspective of human rights and co-existence with special reference to the Qur’an, Prophetic Sunnah, Companions and members of the Prophet’s family, Sufis and Islamic socio-political reformers were also highlighted by Prof Kazmi.
